Sales Tips | 22 May, 2008
Research has proven that customers make five major buying decisions in the course of any major purchase. These decisions are always made in the same order. The first is whether to “buy” the salespersonyou. The second is whether to “buy” your company. Only after those two decisions are made will the customer seriously consider whether to buy your products.
This means that you need to sell yourself to the customerby building rapport while conducting a good needs assessmentbefore you begin to sell your company and its capabilities. Not coincidentally, that needs assessment will also allow you to sell your company far more successfully. Why? Because you must first understand your customer’s needs, before you can answer the customer’s most important question about your company.
You must understand the customer’s needs before you can effectively sell your company.
In deciding whether to do business with you, customers have three basic questions about your company:
1. What does it do?
2. What is it known for?
3. Is your company a good match for mine?
The first two questions usually can be answered with a rehearsed presentation that explains what your company does and the benefits that other clients have gained from doing business with you.
The third question is most important, however, and you cannot answer it with a generic presentation that relies on standard information. To persuade customers that your company is a good match for theirs, you must tailor your answer to their specific needs.
The best way to do this is to tie your company presentation directly to needs that you uncovered earlier in the sales call. You thus are able to present your company’s capabilities as solutions to the customer’s key problems and opportunities.
For Example:
“You told me earlier that service from your current supplier is taking more than 24 hours and that this causes you problems meeting your production goals. We would be a good match for you because our service response averages less than four hours. With our company handling your service you will find it far easier to achieve your goals.”
“Are we a good match?” is every customer’s most important question about your company. You cannot answer it before you have uncovered, understood, and agreed upon the customer’s needs. “Sell yourself” first by demonstrating that you care about those needs. You’ll be amazed at how much more effectively you can then sell your company.
In The Field:
If you are in a commodity business and competing with rivals who sell on price alone, it is especially vital to tell your customers a powerful “company story” that explains why they should do business with you. For National Camera Exchange, which competes in the commodity-oriented business of photographic equipment, differentiating itself from the myriad of price-only suppliers is a daily challenge.
National Camera’s added-value proposition lies in the expertise and consulting skills of its sales force. Its equation for success or failure is simple: If the story of that consulting capability isn’t told effectively, the company loses to lower-priced competitors. Sales and training manager Sean Morgan says that an Action Selling sales training program made a world of difference. “Since more of our salespeople are telling our company story, we are posting higher numbers, and they look less like a roller coaster,” Morgan said. “When the customer needs an education on camera equipment, it is critical to sales success to show them how National Camera is a good match for their needs.”
Duane Sparks is chairman and founder of The Sales Board, a Minneapolis-based sales training company that has trained and certified more than 200,000 salespeople in the system and skills of Action Selling. He has personally facilitated more than 300 Action Selling training sessions.
In a 30-year career as a salesperson and sales manager, Duane has sold products ranging from office equipment to insurance. He was the top salesperson at every company he ever worked for. He developed Action Selling Sales Training while owner of one of the largest computer marketers in the United States. Even in the roaring computer business of the 1980’s, his company grew six times faster than the industry norm, differentiating itself not by the products offered but by the way it sold them. Duane founded The Sales Board in 1990 to teach the skills of Action Selling to others.

Surprising as it may seem, even some of the most respectful cars
with price tags well above the $40.000, despite being advertised
as furnished by their creators with leather interiors, do not
have all of the interior pieces made with real leather. In as
much as the seats themselves usually are leather indeed, the
second most important piece of car interior upholstery is very
often made with vinyl, rather then real leather. It is an
element that is actually moved around several or hundreds of
times a day (depending on your transmission type) and, although
the forces used to handle it are nothing compared to the strain
exerted on your leather seats by the sheer weight of your body,
this means a significant amount of abuse. It does not take long
for the abuse to show, so even if you couldn’t guess what is the
object of reference of this description, just take a look in
your car, unless it’s a new one or an automatic. Why? Automatics
rarely come equipped with a shift boot.
How can you tell what is the stock piece made of? Please keep
in mind that car interiors are a very demanding environment for
upholstery with temperatures changing from way-below-freezing to
a boiling heat, a challenge irrelevant to home upholstery for
example, therefore the materials used need to fulfill more
rigorous standards. Vinyl, sometimes referred to as pleather as
well, is a synthetic material, which comprises a thin rubbery
external layer attached to a textured backing. The external
layer is not very durable and under normal operating conditions
of the interior of a car will become stiff and brittle, which
eventually leads to it peeling away from the backing.
From the engineering standpoint it is therefore even more
surprising, how often a leather shift boot you think your car
has turns out to be a vinyl one, although the seats are genuine
leather and the hood of your car boasts its make to be as
exclusive as BMW or Corvette. Even some automotive legends such
as the Acura NSX or the Nissan Skyline are subject to this
phenomenon.
There are aftermarket companies that work hard to fill that
gap, however, so luckily whenever you get fed up with looking at
your shift boot once it’s better days are over, your choices are
not as limited as purchasing an OEM replacement with a rather
steep price tag (aren’t all OEM replacement items ridden with
the price disease?). If you Google for ‘leather shift boot’
dozens of businesses come up that would be happy to furnish you
with a replacement item, this time made with real leather.
Be wary of universal boots sold by the biggest automotive
aftermarket companies, however. The one-size-fits-all concept
behind those products almost invariably means that you will end
up with an item that will look even worse than the stock piece.
The material will be better, but the fit will be a scandal,
sometimes bad to the point of using lengths of string, visible
after the install is completed, to hold the boot to your center
console and shift lever. After all, unisex products haven’t
really ever made it big, have they?
Make sure you go with a boot that’s custom made for your car
when you go shopping for one. It needs to be cut using a
template similar to or identical with the one used by your car’s
manufacturer. Only that will guarantee that the installation is
easy (you can expect to be re-using your stock mounting
hardware), and that the end result will be impressive. And do
get a shift boot that’s made with genuine leather. You will love
the smell of real leather your car interior will gain with the
new shift boot.

Many believe that eliminating fat and cholesterol from the diet
is the answer to weight loss. The key to weight loss is in the
moderation of healthy fats. The only thing you should eliminate
from your diet is the unhealthy fats. Unhealthy fats such as
saturated and trans fats are associated with heart disease,
obesity, and in short, a very unhealthy lifestyle. Cholesterol
is found in every cell. Cholesterol regulates the cell membranes
fluidity. This prevents the cell from becoming too rigid or too
fluid. Basically, cholesterol helps keep the cell membranes
intact. Cholesterol is the precursor to all steroid hormones
produced in the body which includes mineralcorticoids,
glucocorticoids, and the sex hormones. Cholesterol helps to
build strong bones and muscles, and maintains libido and
fertility. Cholesterol assists in regulating the blood sugar.
Cholesterol helps to protect against infectious disease and
repairs damaged tissue. Cholesterol is required to form vitamin
D. With this in mind, should cholesterol be eliminated from a
diet? There is a difference in blood cholesterol and dietary
cholesterol. You can find dietary cholesterol in foods such as
eggs, seafood, and meat. The liver also makes about two grams of
cholesterol daily. However, under stressful conditions the
production of cholesterol increases. Many studies cannot
correlate eating foods containing cholesterol with an increase
in blood cholesterol. Eliminating cholesterol from the diet can
cause the body to make more, since this compound is of great
importance for a healthy body. This in turn can cause unhealthy
ratios of low density lipoproteins (LDL’s) to high density
lipoproteins (HDL’s). Lipoproteins are cholesterol carriers. The
structure of the lipoprotein is part fat (lipids) and part
protein. Proteins are soluble in water whereas fats are
insoluble in water, hence the reason for the lipoprotein
structure. The protein portion is used to transport the lipids
through the blood. Since blood is comprised mostly of water, the
lipid portion would not travel without the protein portion. High
density lipoproteins or HDL’s consist of about half protein and
half lipid; whereas low density lipoproteins or LDL’s are about
a quarter protein and three quarters lipid. The function of the
HDL is to bring cholesterol to the liver for recycling or
elimination. HDL’s prevent less cholesterol from being deposited
in the arteries. Low density lipoproteins transport cholesterol
to the rest of the body for building tissues. High levels of
LDL’s can cause cholesterol to be deposited in the arteries. An
abnormally high level of LDL’s to low levels of HDL’s in the
body is believed to be a cause of heart disease.
The levels of lipoproteins (HDL and LDL) are affected by the
types of fats we consume. Saturated fats or animal fats are
commonly found in meat, egg yolks, coconut oil, palm oil, and
whole milk products. Trans fatty acids are chemically
unsaturated fats. However, in the body trans fats behave much
like saturated fats. Trans fats also lower HDL levels and raise
LDL levels, increasing the risk of heart disease.
Trans fats are usually introduced into the diet in ways most
consumers are unaware of. During hydrogenation, polyunsaturated
oils become exposed to hydrogen at high temperatures. The nature
of the polyunsaturated fat becomes transformed into a trans fat.
Most margarines and baked goods contain the hydrogenated
polyunsaturated oils. Now the FDA requires that trans fats be
listed on nutrition labels making the trans fat easier for the
consumer to avoid.
The right type of fat can actually help you burn fat and is
extremely healthy for the body. Polyunsaturated fats are oils at
room temperature such as sunflower, corn, and soybean oil.
Polyunsaturated oils contain essential fatty acids such as
omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. These fatty acids are also
associated with a lowered risk of heart disease.
The omega-3 fatty acid is primarily linolenic acid. These fatty
acids are found primarily in plants and in fish oils that
contain DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic
acid). The omega-3 fatty acid can actually counteract some of
the negative effects of insulin resistance. Therefore, a diet
plan incorporating significant amounts of omega-3 fats helps to
promote weight loss.
The omega-6 fatty acid, primarily linoleic acid obtained from
vegetable oils helps to protect against heart disease. Good
sources of omega-6 fats are nuts, avocados, olives, soybeans,
along with sesame, cottonseed, and corn oil.
Monounsaturated fats are the cornerstone to the Mediterranean
diet. The Mediterranean cultures show that a diet rich in olive
oil is correlated with a low incidence of heart disease.
Monounsaturated fats can be found in canola, peanut, and olive
oil. This type of fat has the ability to favorably modify
lipoprotein levels.
Weight loss is a combination of diet and exercise planning.
Problems most encounter are lack of long term commitment. This
weight loss commitment issue has made the quick fix weight loss
plan the most popular. Look past the popular weight loss trends.
Remember, achieving long term weight loss resides in a lifestyle
change you can adapt to.

There were days when getting something mortgaged or financed was a big hassle. People had to survey the entire market in order to know about the existing rates and other details. But now things have drastically changed. Now you can familiarize yourself with what’s prevalent in the market by the way of internet. Getting mortgage quotes online is an excellent way to save the labor of wandering day and night in the market. For it fetches you the entire requisite details while you are relaxing at home. But along with these and many other merits there are few drawbacks too.
Pros and Cons of Online Mortgage Quotes
• The best part about online mortgage quotes, as I mentioned before is the convenience with which information reaches our doorstep.
• Online mortgage quotes are immensely time saving in comparison to getting the quotes through other sources. Applying for a mortgage online serves you with a spontaneous reply. Moreover when you apply online for a loan in person, the lenders aren’t supposed to impart a “good faith estimate” until 3 days after receiving the loan application. This is how you get to save a good amount of time and money by not contacting lenders via phone calls or email. This makes online mortgage loan all the more lucrative and fascinating to the aspiring individuals.
• Online mortgage loan is not just about saving time but also money. Sending an online application and completing the entire process is significantly less expensive for the lender. There is no issue of the customer going to the lender’s office to sign up forms etc., you can even negotiate for the interest rates online which most often ends in a discount to the applicant. The discount comes in the form of a reduction in the interest rates, loan origination fees and closing costs. This is also an outcome of the huge competition among the online lenders.
• Online mortgage provides you with the opportunity to compare, scrutinize and analyze the rates offered by various lenders.
• Those who opt for online mortgage biz receive estimates on closing or settlement costs contemporaneous to applying for the loan rates.
• By and large the people who apply online have a great knowledge of the loan process and have a good credit history. The applicants who appeal reliable and not undependable to the lender are only chosen and approved for the loan.
• The security of applying online is always a matter of debate. But the fact is that applying online is as precarious as applying through loan in person. In order to avert the chances of theft most of the online lenders use an encrypted transmission to send your loan information. Once the application is complete, the text is translated to a secure code which suffers from least chances of information being stolen.
• However lack of trust, no face-to-face negotiation etc. invoke odds of cheating or fraud. Most often lenders are the victims of online mortgage deceits. Also it is always possible for the hackers to decipher the codes, steal and misuse the details.
But the fact is that these demerits are not capable of surpassing the hefty benefits of online mortgage loans. Thus mortgage loans online are a good idea.

If there is a way to get in your RV, water will find it. Water leaks on an RV can cause extensive damage and can be extremely costly to repair. When I worked at an RV dealership I saw the damaging effects that water can cause to an RV time and time again. I learned the lesson the hard way. I appraised a unit that was being traded in and didn’t identify the extensive water damage, which resulted in a thousand dollars worth of repairs. Hindsight is 20/20 and I quickly learned how to inspect for, and identify potential water damage on RVs. My recommendation is that you inspect for potential water leaks twice a year at a minimum, once in the fall and again in the spring.
Every seam on your RV and anywhere the manufacturer cut a hole in your RV has the potential to allow water in. To protect your investment and your wallet take the time to REALLY inspect all of these seams and sealants. Water damage on an RV is similar to progressive damage to a tire. The outside of the tire looks fine, but the internal damage over a long period of time causes the tire to fail without any warning. The outside of your RV looks fine but the internal damage caused by water over a long period of time can result in the entire roof, floor or wall rotting away without you knowing it. Here are a few things to look for during your inspections.
Always keep safety on your mind when you are working on the roof of your RV You can be seriously injured from a fall! A reader of mine suggested that you use 2 pieces of 1/2″
plywood, 2 foot by 4 foot, to move around on and spread your weight out over the
roof rafters.
* To stop a leak before it starts, thoroughly inspect all roof and body seams. Consult with your RV dealer for sealants compatible with different types of roofing materials.
* Look for any discoloration and feel for any soft spots on the ceiling around roof vents, air conditioners, TV antennas, plumbing vents, and any other openings that were cut in the roof.
* Look for any discoloration or wrinkles in the wallpaper, and feel for any soft spots on the walls around all windows, doors, vents, slide outs, or any other openings that were cut in the side walls.
* Identify the location of items like the water heater, furnace, outside shower, potable water fill and city water inlet on the outside of the RV and then access those areas from the inside of the RV and look for any indications of water damage around these openings.
* Open all overhead cabinets and look in the top corner where the walls meet the ceiling for any discoloration or feel for any soft spots. This would indicate a leak at the seam where the sidewall and the roof attach.
* Check in all outside storage compartments for any indications of water leaks or water damage.
* Check for any soft spots on the roof itself especially around the roof seams at the front and rear of the RV. Thoroughly inspect all sealants on the roof around every opening.
* Some Class C motor homes are notorious for leaks in the cab over bed area. Look for any signs of discoloration and feel for soft spots. Reach under the mattress and feel for water.
* Look and feel on the outside of the RV for any signs of delaminating. Delaminating is caused by water getting between the exterior fiberglass and the sidewall. When this happens the exterior fiberglass separates from the sidewall of the RV. You can stand at the front or rear of the RV and look down the side for any noticeable ripples or what looks like a bubble. You can also press on the sidewalls. If you feel the exterior fiberglass move it is delaminating. Often times delaminating starts around where an opening that was made in the sidewall.
Don’t just inspect your RV for water damage; REALLY inspect your RV for water damage. If you do this on a regular basis you can locate and repair the source of any water damage before it has a chance to do a great deal of damage. I think I’ll start checking our motor home more than twice a year.

First aid kits come in different shapes, sizes and prices. They
are available as pre-packaged kits designed for specific
purposes, such as for the home, pets, auto, camping, boating,
golfing, welding, landscaping, trucking, logging, burn care,
bloodbourne pathogen, emergency response, industrial, commercial
and etc. You can also elect to make your own, although this may
work out to be more expensive and time consuming as each item is
purchased individually. The important part of any first aid kit
is that it suits you and your lifestyle or work place.
First Aid Kit Contents
Before deciding the contents of your first aid kit, list out all
activities you commonly participate in. Do you go camping? Do
you or any member of your family play contact sports? Are you on
the road a lot? Is it for industrial use? How many people doest
is the first aid kit for? It is very important that the first
aid kit contents match up to your lifestyle or your workplace
environment. Once you have a basic idea of where a first aid kit
will come in handy, you can start planning the contents of your
kit.
Many first aid kits attempt to sell a kit comprised of a box of
adhesive bandages and a few tablets. How many different type of
injuries will this kit treat? Not very many! Don’t be fooled by
quantity of components, look for variety of components! The idea
is to include components for real life emergencies, not what
might let the kit sell for a few dollars less.
Any first aid kit should contain at least something from the
following groups: Antiseptics (something to kill germs to
prevent infection), Injury treatment (items to deal with
injuries such as butterfly closures and cold compresses),
Bandages (a variety of bandages to dress and cover a variety of
wounds), Instruments (tweezers, barrier gloves), and Medicines.
For example, a basic first aid kits, or starter kits, should
consist of the following items:
A first aid manual Tweezers Sharp scissors Splinter
Remover Thermometer Safety Pins Elastic Gauze (conforming
bandages) Sterile Gauze Adhesive bandages in assorted shapes
and sizes Triangular bandage First aid tape Antiseptic
Ointment Calamine Lotion Antiseptic Wipes Alcohol Wipes
Cotton tipped applicators Aspirin and Ibuprofen Tablets
Vinyl or latex gloves Resuscitation Face Shield
Anti-Inflammatory Cream Sodium Chloride Solution Sterile eye
pad Your prescription medications
What you keep the contents in is up to you. Nowadays, first aid
kits come in plastic case, metal case or durable soft-pack. The
type you choose is dependant on the purpose of the kit and where
it will be stored.
First Aid Kit Supplies and Refills
Finding supplies and restocking your first aid kit is not always
easy. Drug stores often carry a limited number of lines, and the
prices on individual items is rather expensive. First aid kit
supplies can be found online however, and the range is enormous.
You can build your kit to your hearts content, and there’s
plenty more items to choose from, usually at better pricing.
Buying first aid supplies online is especially useful for
restocking industrial first aid kits. When you need to order in
quantity, yet varying amounts of each item, online shopping is
great. You can order select specific quantities of each product,
and have them delivered right to the site.
For the home user, a drug store is probably best for topping up
small easy to find items. If you do need to order harder to find
products, or buy a few items at a time, online shopping may be
an option
Where to buy First Aid Kits online
Online shopping has progressed a long way in recent years,
especially with items that are normally difficult to find, or
are overpriced in the stores. First aid kits are one of the
items that the internet has done wonders for. There is a huge
selection of first aid kits online, ranging from the most
comprehensive industrial and emergency first response kits,
through to the lighter than light kids travel kits. This kind of
range would never be available to the public so readily if it
weren’t for online shopping. Not only is there a huge range, but
it’s usually at prices below retail, and delivered direct to
your door. Rather than putting off the notion of buying a first
aid kit, you now have little to no excuse, as they are only a
few clicks away. If you are ready to buy first aid kits online,
Yahoo! maintains a directory of online stores offering first aid
products, as does DMOZ. You can also try Googling or an online
store like FirstAidKitCentre.com. If you are still a little
skeptical of online shopping, try a local drug store, or perhaps
a local red cross chapter.
Learn First Aid The other essential ingredient that
should accompany all first aid kits are people who know how to
use it. At a bare minimum, you should be familiar with basic
first aid techniques.
Accidents, disasters, and emergencies, can happen anywhere; at
work, home, or play. You may be the person thrust into the
firing line when something happens, and you should be prepared.
There may be a lengthy delay before medical response due to
location, adverse conditions, or lack of communications. At a
time like this it is up to you to commence first aid or CPR, and
your knowledge, or lack thereof, may effect the outcome. A first
aid manual is also a handy addition, and can fill in the blanks
for those more obscure times.
If you have children, it is your role to protect them and aid
them when needed. Techniques used on kids are different to those
of adults, and you should take the time to learn more about this
type of first aid.
Where to learn first aid? The American Red Cross runs
first aid, CPR, and external defibrillator courses designed for
the home, workplace, and professional rescuers. Courses are
offered throughout the country, and internationally through
local red cross chapters.
There are also a great number of First Aid Manuals Having a
first aid manual on hand can be just as important as first aid
supplies. It is difficult for us to remember what to do in each
and every emergency situation, and unless you are using your
first aid skills day in, day out, it’s easy to forget everything
you have learnt. Many first aid kits come stocked with first aid
manuals. If you haven’t yet bought a kit, try to find one that
also includes a guide. If you already have a kit, there are a
number of options available. Next time you stock up on first aid
supplies add a first aid manual to your shopping list.
Amazon.com offers a huge range of first aid manuals (and first
aid kits), so next time you’re picking up a few books, CDs,
DVDs, or anything else from Amazon, place a first aid manual in
your shopping basket as well.

Advertising on instant messenger? Yes, indeed.
Looking back on the different forms of communication, like postal mail, TV, radio, the phone, and e-mail, you can easily see that all of these options feature advertisements. Commercials, sales catalogs, spam, telemarketers, etc.
So it was only a matter of time before that trend continued into instant messaging. It’s gaining popularity now because of a company called ProfileAds, which provides you with a special code that you put in your profile or away message. You earn money whenever someone clicks on one of your ads!
I highly recommend signing-up for ProfileAds, but I also want to mention a few other ways you can make money with IM.
1. Advertise your blog
Seems like everyone has a blog these days, doesn’t it?
Send your buddies to your blog where you have ads (like Google Adsense) that they can click on.
2. For Sale ads
You could post stuff you want to sell in your profile. Kind of like a classified ad.
Let’s say that you like to play golf. Chances are that your friends and contacts do, too. And if these are the people looking at your profile, you may be able to sell your old stuff to them!
3. Free iPods
Sign-up at freeipods.com and then put your referral link in your profile. Then other people will see it and sign-up under you, and you can get your iPod. (Which is like making money!)
See http://freeipods-exposed.com for more details on this.
4. Donations
You could try putting a “PayPal Donate” button in your profile. Say you need money to buy something, then put some kind of ranking in there (like the thermometers) to gauge your progress. Encourage people to donate a dollar or some other small amount. Make it interesting, maybe with a countdown.
Maybe even offer to put the donor’s name or a saying of their choice in your profile. Every dollar gets a line of text in your profile for a day.
(This is only a good idea if you are comfortable with statements like “I am a loser” in your profile
5. Affiliate Programs
My personal favorite method. You sign-up with a merchant like Amazon.com and then get special referral links, similar to what you get with ProfileAds. You simply post these links in your profile or away message.
Whenever someone goes through your link and makes a purchase, you will get paid a commission from that sale! (You won’t be guaranteed any money just for clicks, but if you make a sale, you could make a pretty decent amount!)
Look into products that your friends will like. For example, sporting goods, personal electronics, and posters. Posters are great for the college crowd.

A couple of decades back, nobody would have imagined that they would be betting on their favorite race horses known all over the world in the cozy comfort of their home while watching television and eating popcorn. Horse betting on line has become a favorite of many racing and horse lovers who up until recently were moving from place to place just to have the thrill of the aristocratic races still popular in the sports world.
On line horse racing gives the same thrill and anxiety as live horse betting and also provides the convenient facility to bet any time and anywhere in the world, unlike the on-the-spot horse betting. The horse racing sites have made betting on line so fascinating and real that one has the feeling of betting at the real tracks. The rule of the game is simple and one has to deposit an amount to their account, and the betting starts with each credit or debit for the win or lose. These are typically automatic updating accounts. There are monthly subscription sites where you have to remit a fixed amount for the on line bet. Even in this case the subscription is waived for active bettors who surpass a minimum bet amount. There are advance sites that allow you wager and some others offering bettors the opportunity to check the results through the mobile phones.
In spite of all the advanced technology, the reduced thrill of betting on line on horse racing is well compensated by the huge cost savings by obviating the journey and connected expenditure as well as the variety and choice one may come across in the on line betting. While in traditional betting one had to wait for long, perhaps months, to get a chance to offset his loss or misfortune, the facility of betting on multiple races and at the same time on a cross section of sports sites, as well as the convenience and the preference of the bettor, make the on line horse betting irresistible.
