Nothing sharpens the mind quite like a game of poker with friends (or enemies). On the athletic front, however, this sharp game does little to tone that tummy or strengthen the core.
So why not play the game outside?
I can think of nothing better than taking a long, relaxing hike to a wilderness campground, setting up camp, and finishing the day with a round of poker. There’s just something about going all in with pocket Ace’s under a cloudless, starry sky that gets my heart pumping a little bit more than usual. Maybe it’s because I’m not a smoker and I detest the smoky, lung-clogging poker rooms of Las Vegas. Or maybe I just don’t like the impersonal nature of online poker. More likely, however, it’s probably just the fact that doing things outdoors means there’s an additional, adventurous edge that isn’t present in front of a TV or at a table.
You can even spruce things up (tree pun intended) by playing with trail mix, or some other camping snack, as betting money. Hard shell candies can be nickels, or peanuts could be ten-dollar chips. Potato chips could be chips!
In the end, though, it’s all about adding a new experience to your poker game. After a while, especially if you’re constantly losing, you might start to feel tired of the game. Playing outdoors with friends could be what you need to jump start your game.
