The Holy Spirit is our Teacher

Now that we know God and Jesus want to release Their knowledge direct to us from Their throne room in heaven – how is this knowledge actually transmitted to us? This will now bring us into the next set of Scripture verses.

These next three verses will tell us that this knowledge is given to the Holy Spirit – and then the Holy Spirit, who is already living on the inside of us, will be the one to transmit all of this knowledge to us! The Holy Spirit will thus become your personal guide and personal teacher in this life. It will be His job to impart and transmit all of this knowledge direct to you once you start to seek after it.

Here are three powerful verses from Scripture showing us that the Holy Spirit will be the one to transmit the knowledge of God direct to us.

  1. “But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.” (1 Corinthians 2:10)
  2. “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, HE WILL TEACH YOU ALL THINGS, and bring to your remembrance all things that I have said to you.” (John 14:26)
  3. “However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, HE WILL GUIDE YOU INTO ALL TRUTH …” (JOHN 16:13)

The very first verse lays the foundation when it says that no one knows the things of God except the Holy Spirit – and that the Holy Spirit has been given to each and every one of us in order to reveal the things that God wants to reveal to us. In other words, it is the job of the Holy Spirit to release the knowledge of God direct to us!

The second verse confirms the first verse when it says that the Holy Spirit will be our teacher and that He will “teach us all things.” Notice the word “all” – that He will teach us “all things.”

Think about what is being said in this verse. This statement being made by God in that the Holy Spirit can teach us all things is a maximum intense statement being made by God. God is telling us that He is willing to go more than overboard in order to teach us things and to transmit His knowledge to us. Then the verse even goes one step further when it says that the Holy Spirit can literally bring back up to your remembrance, when you may need it, the knowledge that He has already given to you!

A perfect example of this is for those who really study the Bible in order to get it really worked and assimilated into their minds and spirits. What you will find start to happen if you are willing to spend some quality time to get the Word soaked into you – is that the Holy Spirit will bring back up to your memory the appropriate Scripture verses when you may need them on the spot when preaching or talking to others about God and Jesus. You’ll literally see these verses float right up out of your spirit in front of your mind’s eye right at the moment that you will need them. This is literally a supernatural transmission of knowledge direct to your mind by the Holy Spirit Himself!

Not only can the Holy Spirit do this with Scripture verses – but He can also do this with any other bits of knowledge that He may want to give to you. He can give you His words of knowledge and wisdom all day long on whatever else you may need His help on. That is why the Holy Spirit is called “the Helper” in the second verse above. The Holy Spirit cannot help you unless He is able to transmit words of knowledge and wisdom to you as you will need them.

The last verse says that not only will the Holy Spirit be our Helper and our Teacher – but that He will also be our Guide in this life. Think about those three words – Helper, Teacher and Guide! This is a powerful three-fold ministry that the Holy Spirit has with each born again believer.

The last verse says that the Holy Spirit will guide us into “all” truth. Again, notice the word “all” - all truth – not just some or part of the truth. If you can learn to be led by the Holy Spirit and pick up when He is starts to try and communicate with you, you can literally start to receive the knowledge of God in every area of your life where you need’s God’s knowledge and guidance to get you through!

Rhema Island

FIRST LOVE RECOVERY MINISTRIES

RHEMA ISLAND

Romans 10:17 (New International Version)
“Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.”

This word of Christ serves as the divinely ordained travel agent for all persons who are travelling through life from the cradle to the grave in all generations of human existence.
The star offer for all times and seasons is ‘Rhema Island’!
This is the only island where all the dreams of God in the human heart get really and fully fulfilled.
But the island cannot be located on any physical map or using the latest satellite technology, yet its existence has been proved by those who found it.
It has even eluded the realms of magic, mythology and mysticism, yet those who find it accomplish ‘the impossible’ in fulfilling their divine destinies.
This island is surrounded and hidden by the seas of ancient and modern human philosophies and traditions which mankind has sought to achieve fulfillment in life!
Mankind has suffered turmoil and frustration even when sailing on the ships as ‘invincible’ as ‘the Titanic’ in order to get to this island!
The enemy of mankind has always provided an alternative to this star offer but those who has accepted such an offer have ended up in a complete mess(Prov.14:12). The alternative seems right to the human intellect because it comes in a very attractive package that hides its real evil nature. The enemy of mankind has never had any interest in any person’s fulfillment in life. Therefore if anyone refuses his offer,he proceeds to discourage those who make the right choice to seek ‘Rhema Island’!

Hebrews 11:6 (New International Version)

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”

Through the word of Christ anyone can hear the message of God relevant to his/her situation, and this message generates faith which is the dynamic element in man that turns the dreams of God into realities.
Real faith never denies or belittles God’s existence and God’s ability to impartially respond to anyone who seeks him. Faith counters and neutralises the lies of the enemy of mankind-these lies only sabotage man’s destiny both temporally(in this life) and eternally(in the life to come). Through faith, anyone can get access to ‘Rhema Island’ and it is only by faith that one’s place on the island is secured in spite of the onslaught of the enemy’s storms.
Real faith is not ‘faith in faith’ but ‘faith in God(Mark 11 :22)’. The former (faith in faith) is only an alternative to real faith but gets no one anywhere and offers no security against the enemy. The latter(faith in God) believes in who God is,and in what he says!

Jeremiah 33:3 (The Message)
“Call to me and I will answer you. I’ll tell you marvelous and wondrous things that you could never figure out on your own.”

1 Corinthians 2:9-10 (New International Version)
“However, as it is written:
“No eye has seen,
no ear has heard,
no mind has conceived
what God has prepared for those who love him”
“but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit.
The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.”

Psalm 119:18 (New International Version)

“Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law.”

Real faith is expressed in love(Gal 5:6),and the evidence of love is obedience to God(John 14:15). In obedience to God,real faith humbly seeks God,who then reveals by his Spirit in the bible(his law)all things(2 Peter 1:3) relevant to the fulfillment of destiny. Faith then proceeds to use those revealed things to fulfill destiny, for faith without works is dead(James 2:26)!

Where then is ‘Rhema Island’?
It is that wonderful place in God where anyone can find, pursue, and fulfill his/her divine destiny both now and in eternity!
It is a global network of people who appear to be ’superheroes’ when they are just heroes of faith(Heb 11)!
To get to that isle, each person must be born again through a personal encounter with Jesus Christ(John 3: 3). This process of ‘rebirth’(the new birth) involves repentance(Mark 1:14-15) from sin,and faith(John 3:16, 5:24) in Christ as one’s personal Lord and Saviour. And this process is initiated by the word of Christ preached in the power of the Spirit by those(both clergy and laity) that he sends to the world as his witnesses(Rom 10:15).

For anyone on ‘Rhema Island’ who is facing challenges(storms even to the scale of a tsunami),victory has been secured at Calvary where Christ died for mankind of all generations, and this is the victory that should be enforced by faith in order ‘to ride the storm’ and win unto the glorious end. Therefore be encouraged for the Lord within is much more greater than the enemy without(1 John 4:4)!

1 John 5:4-5 (King James Version)

“For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.”
“Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?”

Overhearing my conversations with God

Have you ever listened to yourself when you talk to God? Last week I acted as a third party while I was having a typical conversation with God. The dialogue went like, “God, I’m so fat. Help me loose some weight.”

Then shockingly, the listening Me said: “What the hell, You sound like a total looser, you think God’s gonna help you? Get real yah baby.”

There I was, looking at myself in the mirror and an avalanche of questions began to reign in on me. “Does God think I’m an idiot? Do I really pass up opportunities to help myself and waste time whining to God? Does God get tired of listening to me?”

After a solacing moment, the Me that likes to talk with God started to think: “Maybe I do take God’s name in vain by calling this Being before I try to improve things myself. Maybe, I’m not only using God’s name in vain when I give God the erroneous last name “Damn”.”

In a reminiscent way, I pondered if I had wasted precious moments with God. Even though God is everywhere and ever present, lots of shitty moments with God just seem to add up to shit. At this point, I decided, I have to get real. If I want God to respect me, I need to become a little bit more disciplined and self-contained and not shrill at every little problem that comes my way.

Now, when I talk to God, it’s not about trivial Naweko life repeated ad nauseum, but more like thanks God just for being there to listen to me, I need that.

Just Ask

Thus saith the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me.

Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their God: they ask of me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to God. They shall ask the way to Zion with their faces thitherward, saying, Come, and let us join ourselves to the Lord in a perpetual covenant that shall not be forgotten.

Ask ye of the Lord rain in the time of the latter rain; so the Lord shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field. Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

And when the daughter of the said Herodias came in, and danced, and pleased Herod and them that sat with him, the king said unto the damsel, Ask of me whatsoever thou wilt, and I will give it thee.

And he sware unto her, Whatsoever thou shalt ask of me, I will give it thee, unto the half of my kingdom. And she went forth, and said unto her mother, What shall I ask? And she said, The head of John the Baptist. But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question.

Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again. And if any man ask you, Why do ye loose him? thus shall ye say unto him, Because the Lord hath need of him. And he answered and said unto them, I will also ask you one thing; and answer me: The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men? And after that they durst not ask him any question at all.

And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou?

His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind: But by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself. Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him. But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.

If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.

Jesus Christ: one can reach god only through him… Is this

Jesus Christ: one can reach god only through him… Is this statement correct?

Catch the express or the super fast bullet train. If we are able to reach our goal the purpose is served. Talk of Jesus Christ, Mahavira, Gautama Buddha or Prophet Mohammed… all reached the goal they had established in their life. The goal of all (including Jesus Christ) was the same… only the paths were different.

Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ or Prophet Mohammed… all wanted to have one-to-one interaction with God the Almighty. All four of them succeeded in their life. If Jesus Christ were to say that God can be reached through him (he is not incorrect) for any enlightened Soul can guide the humanity to its logistical end.

Life was made like that by God the Almighty. The Jesus Christ has been considered in Christianity as the son of God the Almighty. The teachings of Jesus Christ can also not be considered wrong but there is all possibility that the interpretation of the teachings of Jesus Christ may have been wrongly monitored by people with vested interests.

Such wrong interpretations exist in every religion or Dharma. The society at present thinks and interprets everything in terms of materialistic gains. How can then be the teachings of Jesus Christ remain untouched by impurities?

The so called statement by Jesus Christ that one can reach god only through him is a misnomer. No enlightened Soul can utter such words. It is a complete disregard of the teachings of Jesus Christ. It is upon the masses in general to assess whom to trust in the present materialistic trend existing in the society. A blind faith in the Vatican teachings can totally misguide the humanity towards a catastrophic end.

Even though the interpretation of the teachings of Jesus Christ by the Vatican carry absolute weight age for most Catholics around the world but it need not be the absolute truth as was administered and monitored by Jesus Christ himself. The Vatican interpretations can be based on absolutely wrong footing.

Let me give an example-

Sometimes back it was announced in most of the newspapers around the world that John Pope Paul (considered a direct representative of Jesus Christ on Mother Earth) had arranged for a team of renowned astronomers and quite a number of powerful telescopes with the hope that God could be located in the universe perchance. The poor John Pope Paul failed to realize that the basic building block of the whole Cosmos is atoms and molecules. God the Almighty cannot have existence in the form of a human being… it has to be a source of energy… the might of which can not be perceived with the limitations of the senses and the mind.

What an awful waste of money and intelligence… none in the Catholic world retaliated. What does this prove…? Does this confirm the blind faith of the masses in the Vatican? Such a blind faith in the Vatican is absolutely wrong for it leads the society towards wrong conclusions! If Jesus Christ had been alive today… he would have outright rejected the actions of the Vatican.

We are intelligent human beings and we need to introspect upon everything said or interpreted to us. We have science to support us whenever the need arises. It is a different matter that everything in the field of spirituality cannot be interpreted in terms of science for most things in the spiritual field are taken care of by faith alone (faith in the existence and system of God). I again confirm that it is only the absolute faith in the system of God that can lead us towards the eternal light… nothing else!

Whatever Jesus Christ may have said at any stage of life would have been absolutely correct… only the interpretations of his sayings and teachings are likely to be interpreted wrongly based on the vested interests many people possess. Furthermore, to be able to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ one need not become a Christian. Similarly as to follow the dictates of Lord Krishna one need not be a Hindu. All teachings are required to be followed in the right spirit of the sacred scriptures.

Every enlightened teacher like Jesus Christ would always want to emphasize that it is in the interest of the masses that their teachings be followed in the right spirit for one (Jesus Christ) who has already covered the journey knows the path! Swami Vivekananda… the famous disciple of Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa knew very well that under the guidance of his master he can become enlightened in this very life. It was up to Swami Vivekananda entirely whether or not to follow the teachings of sage Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa in order to realize God in his lifetime.

Whether we follow the teachings of Jesus Christ or Gautama Buddha is immaterial. The sole purpose of the journey of life of a human being is always reaching the end of the journey and this goal can only be achieved by following the dictates of an enlightened master alone (like Jesus Christ). It is very important! The fact written in the Bible that “God can only be reached through Jesus Christ” confirms this.

I RODE BY MY OLD HOME CHURCH

Jeremiah 6.16 “Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, we will not walk therein.”

Today, Wednesday, July 12, 2005, I rode by my old home church, Youmans Chapel. Seeing the church brought back many fond memories.

The year was 1959, and I was in the second grade. The members of Youmans Chapel Baptist church called my Daddy, the late Rev. A.J. Rozier, to be their pastor. This small country church was located in a farming community and the congregation was made up of some down to earth folks. We sang hymns out of the old hymnal…I can still hear the song leader say, “Get your song book and turn to page 57 and let’s all sing Amazing Grace like we mean it.” Some of the other songs that still ring in my ears are “On the Jericho Road”, “Camping in Canaanland”, “Just a Little Talk with Jesus”, and “I’ll Fly Away”. Several of the congregation could really sing and the piano player sure could rattle them keys. Back in those days, we didn’t have nurseries and such, so babies and all the little children sat with their parents. Daddy was a bi-vocational preacher…he also sold furniture. He knew that God had called him to preach and pastor at Youmans Chapel. I can see him now, standing behind that wooden pulpit, delivering a message to the hungry congregation…a message straight from the throne of God.

We had a few small Sunday School rooms, but we had no social hall. The sanctuary was not air-conditioned, so we used those hand-held cardboard fans to ward off the heat of the hot Georgia summertime. We did have two gas space heaters for the cold of the wintertime. After all week revivals, we would have Sunday dinner spead on tables set up under the towering pine trees. Man, there sure was some good home cooked food and deserts at those Sunday eatings! After dinner, we would go back into the church and have special singing. I immensely enjoyed hearing those good old gospel songs even though I was a small child. Daddy preached at Youmans Chapel until mid 1965, and then was called to another church. The Lord called Daddy home in 1966..he was 40.

Some of the families who attended Youmans Chapel were kin to each other, and to Mr. Youmans, who donated the land for the church. I fondly recall the Carters, Youmans, Eatons, Godwins, Howells, Pittmans, Bowens, Moores, Battens, Dowlings, Harpers and Bryants. All these folks hold a special place in my heart. Sister Margaret Bacon played the piano, and her husband, Gene, was a close friend of my Daddy’s. Those two could really sing, and they had beautiful children. Brother Gene and my Daddy are now singing around the throne.

I helped David Pittman, whose Daddy S.L. was a deacon, with his farm. David grew tobacco, corn, soybeans, pecans and raised hogs. We worked hard but had fun working and we always ate good dinners. David’s wife, Ruby, his Mama. Mrs. Pittman, and his mother-in-law, Mrs. Harper, took turns cooking for us. We ate like kings! When Wednesday rolled around, we always knocked off early so we could go to prayer meeting. They were well attended and the Lord answered many a prayer put up at these meetings.

When I was 19, I joined the Army and stayed for several years. Whenever I would come home on leave, I would visit with my old friends at Youmans Chapel. In 1987, I was released from the Army and moved back home. My three children and I (I was a single parent) started attending Youmans Chapel. I taught Sunday School and sometimes would preach…behind that very same pulpit where my Daddy had once stood. The pastor, Rev. Lowell Lee, was a spirit filled man of God, and greatly encouraged me to preach God’s word. Later, Brother Lee, retired, and then the Lord moved me to other places. I no longer attended Youmans Chapel, yet I would go there on occasion. The last time I preached from that old pulpit was New Year’s Eve, 1993, at a watch night service. There were only a few of us there, but the presence of the Lord was very special that night.

Now the old church sanctuary is mostly used for the youth. A big new building, including many Sunday School rooms, a large social hall, pastor’s office, reception area, and more sits on some of the land where I used to help David farm. Most of the farms in that community are no longer there. In fields where acres of crops once grew stands subdivisions. The Youmans Chapel community has rapidly filled with people and I hope the church is still a shining light on that small hill. Things change, people come and go, but the Lord changes not. Sometimes I feel like change is not for the better…like that old expression “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”.

Yes, as I rode by the church, I remembered my childhood days, that small sanctuary full of people of all ages, lifting their voices to heaven as they sang about Jesus. Times were less complicated then, and in my humble opinion, churches were, too.

“O, I’d like to go back to that old country church, to hear them songs of praise…I’m redeemed by love divine, glory, glory, Christ is mine, all to Him I know resign, I have been redeemed. In the sweet, by and by, we shall meet on that beautiful shore.”

Isaiah 46.9 “Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,”

Asthma and Allergies

I had never had allergies or asthma before we moved and now I am struggling a lot with both. Is there something that I can do to help prevent this from happening? I use to live in a real wet part of the country so I thought that if anything, I would have been more exposed to things that would have caused them but now that I am in a relatively dry area I am really struggling with my breathing. At first I thought it was because I was new to the area but now I have struggled with it for about 3 months and I am looking for relief.

What are some of the main symptoms that accompany the onset of Asthma? I thought at first that maybe my daughter was just contracting a slight chest cold and we did all the normal treatments and they do not seem to be working. Also, it is not a consistent feeling so it leads me to believe that it maybe a little more than just a cold. Then maybe we thought it could be allergies to our new cat but normal allergy medicine is not making it go away. What are some of the symptoms and is there something that I can be doing to make sure that it does not turn into a serious case? Is it something that she can outgrow?

How Does God See You?

How does God see you? Does He like what He sees? Can I tell you He loves you 100% and loves everything about you? He loves all your annoying habits, He loves those extra pounds you have gained, and He loves you when you falter. Basically, He loves you. As a new creature in Christ when God looks at you He sees you as being redeemed. He sees the work Christ has completed on our behalf. He loves you even if you never change from this very day.

This morning I was trying to start my quiet time. I had my notebooks and Bible out all ready to get started. I sensed God saying, “Put those down. Calm your mind down. You know what, Kimberly I love you. Just think about it for a minute.” I quickly was in tears. He truly loves me. I know we all “know”
God loves us, but do you really know it. Do you live like He loves you?

God thinks I’m beautiful! Whether the world thinks that or not! God likes my silly jokes, whether my kids like them or not. God thinks I’m cool even if the world says different. God sent his Son to die for me, how much more special can that be.

Today, I ask you to truly dwell on the fact that God loves you. Soak in it, breathe it, and then live it. When God loves me I can conquer anything in his strength alone. I do best when I give it all to God and throw my hands up and say, “God it is yours I can’t do it anymore.” It is a shame I don’t do that first, but I’m learning and you know what God loves me in spite of myself.

From Toledo to Jerusalem

Why would a blond, “non-Jewish” American want to emmigrate to Israel? What’s the connection? Especially when so few Jews in the United States are willing to make the move. What force would drive someone to travel to Israel 11 times, serve in 8 kibbutzim and even stay there during the Persian Gulf War, complete with gas mask, with his room designated as cheder atoom – “sealed room” – that other volunteers had to run to whenever the eerie sirens sounded that another Scud Missile was headed for the Promised Land? Why would such an individual risk arrest, defamation and deportation to participate in legal demonstrations in Jerusalem?

The first time I visited Israel was with the Worldwide Church of God in 1980 to celebrate Sukkot – the biblical Feast of Tabernacles. (Some Christians understand that Israel’s harvest festival foreshadows the peace and prosperity that everyone will soon enjoy under the Messiah’s golden rule). But that whirlwind experience only whet my appetite.

I wanted to return for a closer look at Israel than through a tour bus window. That’s how I decided to return as a kibbutz volunteer in the fall of 1982. A kibbutz is a collective farm, although increasingly it includes other industries as well. I initially served at Ramat Yohanan near Haifa, in full view of Mt. Carmel, famous for the fiery prophet Elijah’s close encounter with pagan Israelites.

You could say I have a God-given love for the Jews and the nation of Israel (Isaiah 62:6-7). That sacred bond has been strengthened over the years by the fact that I’ve been blessed to have lived all over Israel, getting to know its land and people quite well. Apart from 5 months at Ramat Yohanan, I’ve also stayed at Sdot Yam on the Mediterranean, next to Ceasarea, the site of my first ulpan (intensive Hebrew course), and where Israel’s heroine, Hannah Senesh, was from; Regavim, near Zichron Yaakov, where I continued my Hebrew lessons amid its rolling green hills; Reshafim, near Bet She’an, with Mt. Gilboa practically in our backyard, and Jordan’s mountains in lovely view out front; Adamit, on Lebanon’s border, high up on a mountain, from where on clear days you can see all the way to Haifa’s Mt. Carmel; Shoval, a rose in the Negev desert, just north of Be’er Sheva; Dan, way up in the northernmost part of Israel, in between Syria and Lebanon, next to the majestic snow-covered Mt. Hermon, where I was living when “Operation Desert Storm” blew in; and Ha’On, with its campground and ostrich farm on the eastern shores of the Sea of Galilee, across from Tiberias; and last but not least, my beloved Jerusalem, next to my favorite spot on earth: the Temple Mount.

But why would I leave the beautiful farms and magnificent greenery of Ohio for a Middle Eastern country? (My ancestors sailed to America from England, including John and Priscilla Alden on the Mayflower). Why would I legally change my name from David A. Hoover to David Ben-Ariel? (Hebrew for: David, son of God’s Lion – a nickname for Jerusalem/Isaiah 29:1). Yes, why?

1) Because I am a Christian-Zionist who believes the rebirth of Israel is nothing short of a miracle, and that all Bible-believers must support this fulfillment of prophecy or deny their faith.

And 2) because I strongly believe what many are now discovering: the Israelite identity of the peoples of Northwestern Europe. This awareness of our Biblical roots and responsibility hastens the process of redemption.

Herbert W. Armstrong was one of the greatest to restore this truth to millions, but I’m friends with Yair Davidiy in Israel, author of The Tribes and Ephraim (www.britam.org), who represents a growing number of Jews who are again accepting the revelation of their brother, Joseph – head of the northern ten-tribed Kingdom of Israel (distinct from the southern Kingdom of Judah). Due to my Anglo-Saxon heritage, as well as descent from the British and Scottish Royal Families, I’m considered of the tribes of Joseph and Judah. (There are twelve tribes of Israel). For people like me, Israel is also our ancient Homeland. I truly feel my return to Zion completes a historic circle in my family’s history.

Having been to Israel so many times, and written innumerable letters to The Blade (Toledo, Ohio’s newspaper), and various articles in support of a Jewish state, I never imagined that one day I would be deported from it!

As reported on the front page of the Jerusalem Post (Jan. 8, 1996), the GSS (Israel’s Secret Service) sought my deportation on the trumped-up charges of my alleged involvement in a plot to blow up the Al-Aksa mosque. This travesty of justice occurred during the “witch-hunt” that followed Prime Minister Rabin’s assassination. Israel’s Left was exploiting Rabin’s death to squash their legal opposition. Such Stalinist tactics were condemned by former Russian refuseniks and “Prisoners of Zion.” Thankfully, Shimon Peres’ regime was toppled with the election of Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu. Bibi (as Netanyahu’s affectionally called) had also been branded as an “enemy of peace” for opposing wholesale surrender to PLO demands. He promised the Israelis “peace with security.”

As a Christian member of the Temple Mount Faithful, I’d been privileged to participate in their legal demonstrations during my 10-month stay in Jerusalem awaiting citizenship. Israeli television often showed me with my Jewish friends carrying Israeli flags throughout the Old City. I’ve also had letters published in the Jerusalem Post, the Traveller and other publications about the burning issue of the Temple Mount.

Presently that most holy site is under a militant Muslim occupation that forcibly forbids Christians or Jews from praying or reading the Bible there. This despite the fact that both Solomon and Herod’s Temple stood there, and Jesus and His disciples taught and prayed there. Israel has a law against such violent religious discrimination, but apparently they’re afraid or unwilling to enforce it. Such shameful appeasement rewards the aggressors and punishes the innocent! The Temple Mount Faithful boldly calls for an end to this injustice.

In my book, Beyond Babylon, I’ve called for the Israeli government to exercise its Jewish responsibility to build the Temple. I wrote that book in the United States before any of this trouble. The book clearly explains that I’m not calling for any individual to remove the mosques, but rather expecting the GOVERNMENT to fulfill its historic obligations. I mentioned this to the police during my six and an half hours interrogation. Later I was imprisoned in Jerusalem’s “Russian Compound” for three weeks until my heartbreaking deportation.

As my attorney in Israel, Naftali Warzberger, has written, my future is linked with that of the Jews and Israel. That’s why I’m confident justice will prevail. Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (D. Ohio) has persistently presented this case of religious discrimination and political persecution before our State Department. Senator Mike DeWine (R. Ohio) has inquired on my behalf to return to Zion and was informed that the Ministry of the Interior “has made the decision not to grant the visa and does not offer any information behind their decision.” They’ve since written Senator DeWine that I will not be “eligible for a visa until 2005!”

Is it a crime to have an abiding love for Israel? To believe what’s written in the Law and the Prophets concerning the Temple and our responsibility to construct it? To mourn that it hasn’t been done yet? As the Jerusalem Talmud states: “every generation in which the Temple has not been built is as if the Temple were destroyed in it….” Isn’t Israel’s state emblem a gold menorah in between two gold olive branches?

Must I remain in exile, banished from the Land I love, because my hope, prayer, and dream is for Israel to fulfill what that symbol represents: the Temple and Israel’s destiny to become a Light to all nations?
