Unrivaled amongst most famous snowboarding mountains for luxury ski holidays, Val d’Isre boasts 369 kilometres of groomed runs. The ski season begins during early November and stops in May. The high altitude resort provides everything for you. Val d’Isere unfolds along the valley from La Daille as far as Le Fornet with the focus and the apres ski in the centre Val Village. This bunch of inviting buildings contain smart dress shops most of which have appeared since the village was picked for the Winter Olympics in 1992.
Broken into three different areas Val d’Isre has lots of ski able slopes for all skiers. It has a cracking snow record, the village is massively fashionable amidst pro skiers and boarders and piste hungry intermediates, on the other hand you don’t need to be especially adventurous to relish what is on offer. It is easy to why a lot of Brits are drawn to the mountain, with its exciting night-life and the wide variety of entertainment on offer, but the close proximity of Tignes permits you to venture out to less frantic areas if it all begins to get all too much.
Pros
A brilliant night-life in the Alps. Everybody speaks English. Comfortable access to both Val d’Isre and Tignes collectively known as the Espace Killy ski area. It has lots of vehicles and though there are many buses during the day, committed apres skiers should head to be within walking distance from the centre.
Cons
Overpriced. Hectic and popular with English holiday makers, so not for those anticipating a classic French town to savour a stress free trip. Numerous ski lifts can close in bad conditions. A few tricky blue and green pistes.
