Perhaps that should be what he would do. he wouldn’t go and buy a new jacket, although the men’s wool jackets did look very nice. He would see if he could bear to wear the old jacket without thinking of Paola and if he couldn’t he would chuck on his mens black jacket that wears sometimes when he goes out. The weather should be reasonable tomorrow so either way he would be fine. He must really like Sophie to be worrying about what to wear at such an early stage. He liked clothes and dressed well, but he was not so metrosexual that he was going to be faffing about a date 24 hours in advance. He hoped Sophie was well enough since she was not at work today, although he would of course still go to the cricket without her. That way there was no real loss either way. It would be a shame if she didn’t but he would still get to enjoy the cricket. Win-win, as they say. He decided to leave the jacket shopping for another time and wanted to just have a quick look at tops and shirts. There might be something he can treat himself to, he thought. He found himself for some reason in the women’s accessories department and once again bumped into the ‘very pleased’ shop assistant. This time he was laughing and telling a story about how he had just quit his job. Good for him, thought Richard, as he left feeling a little envious of the man’s good fortune.
